Step 3
Create a new page, edit and view it...
- If you want to create a new page, please select the place where this
page should be inserted as sub-page. If you'll want to create a new page at
the top-level navigation, you'll simply select iungo.org. If you'll want to add a new page to the
tutorial, select Tutorial. If you want to
add some notes to Step 3 , simply select
this one.
- Now you'll can choose the content-type to create in the select-box at
the top of the page (" - Create -"). The default install offers only one
type: "iungoPage", later we'll learn how to add new content-types.
- If you don't change the field before the select box ([AUTO-ID]
per default), iungo creates automagically a unique Id for your page. This
should be used most of the time, because iungo is based on the id of
reposity-wide unique ids. If you want to give your newly created page a
unique id of your own (useful for the top-levels of a web-site), you'll
just need to overwrite the [AUTO-ID] with your choice. Please
note: the Id must be unique within the iungo-repository. If you'll try to
use an already existing id, iungo starts to cry...
- Newly created pages are empty. "Title" and "Description" should be
clear. The main-content-area of the page can be HTML or other data-formats,
just depends on you.
- If you want to edit HTML, simply use the built-in WYSIWYG-Editor
similar to a word-processor. If you want to create links between pages,
please use the "folder"-symbol of the WYSIWYG-Editor: Select the text which
should be linked, click the folder-symbol, select the page to link to in
the popup and that's it.
- If you want to view the source-code of the page (maybe to learn how
iungo creates links between pages), just hit the checkbox below the
WYSIWYG-Editor (labeld HTML). You can enter or change the HTML and hit the
checkbox again to see your changes.
- If you hit [Save], your changes will be saved. Now you can hit
[View] in the headline to see the page in the default-layout. Hit
[Edit] to start working on the page again.
- If you hit the button [Save & Create] the currently edited
page will be saved and a new page is created at the same level in the
navigation. This can be very useful if you want to enter mass-data with
just as few clicks as possible. If you hit [Save & View] all
changes are saved and iungo changes to the view-mode. The button
[External Edit] can be used if you'll want to edit the content with
a deskopt-editor. Please read the README of the External-Editor-product for
more info.
- If you want to store non-HTML-data in a iungoPage (maybe images, pdfs,
...), you can use the button labeld [Upload]. Simply [Browse]
your local harddisk and upload it. That's it. If you want to clear the
main-content-area, just hit [Clear] to get rid of the currently
stored HTML, Image, PDF or whatever else you don't want to see
anymore...;)
